Camera Technology
Camera technology is always changing and we endeavour to keep up with the latest proven methods of sending what the camera sees to where the data is captured.
Currently available methods have given us the opportunity to upgrade existing systems with existing wiring and bring them into the HD world with a straight swap over.
H.264+ and H.265 encoding have significant bandwidth and hard drive space reduction without affecting the quality of images. We are now offering 4K Ultra High Definition cameras for superb quality and clarity.
The new range of starlight cameras has given the advantage of seeing in the dark as if it were daylight in complete clarity.

License Plate Recognition
We are finally able to deliver a reliable license plate recognition system that can add significant security managemnt of vehicles to your site.
Plates can be added via an app from the end user and be notified when a plate is detected.
Plates can be recorded at high speed and long range with very high accuracy.
These system also make very good automatic gate openers. No more reaching for the remote when coming home, just drive in. Too easy.
Helpful Hints
- Reliability is a big factor, choosing reliable products is the first key step.
- For external applications, using a camera that is designed for low light conditions will give best results around the clock. Stay away from anything plastic, these tend to be a lot cheaper but tend to dry out and go brittle from the sun. Working on or even adjusting these in future can end up in the bin. Using a motorized auto iris lens will give you sharp images even under varying lighting conditions.
- Storage of recorded footage. The more high definition cameras you use the less time will be available. Make sure a special surveillance hard drive is being used. These are designed to read and write simultaneously as well as overwriting data. Generally the larger the drive the longer it will last as its overwrites less often. Be careful of using cloud storage facilities. This will mean your system is always uploading and may not work if you loose internet. Record locally and connect remotely.
- Analytic cameras are now widely available. These can be used to detect intruders, flash lights or even speak a pre recorded message. These may be a good upgrade aswell as being a recording camera.
- Using firmware upgrade-able hardware will keep your system up to date with any cyber security issues or bug fixes in the future as well as adding any features that might not yet be available.
- Subscriptions and licenses are available on some systems. Check to see whether these are applicable to your system and if and when they expire.
- Get a professional installer. There are plenty of cowboys out there. They can usually get something working but if there are any issue they are gone. Most certified installers are trained and have technical support through their distributors. The job tends to be tidier and is usually installed to a higher standard.
Camera Connection and Service Provider Section
Balloch security are registered service providers for Hikvision and Dahua camera, intercom and alarm systems. Due to significant global cyber security updates and service encryption, some systems will need to be updated to get online again.
This service does not access the camera feed, it is an update and health monitoring service only. We can do this for most system even if they have not been installed by us. We can also diagnose any system health issues youy may be having.
For the DMSS app, navigate to the me at the bottom right of the screen and select service. Select service provider and then tap the + at the top right of the screen. Choose QR code and scan the QR code on the left below.
For the Hikconnect app, navigate to the + symbol on the home screen at the top right of the screen and choose scan QR code. Scan the code on the right below.
